A Trauma is an emotional injury following an overwhelming experience. A distinction is made between Shock trauma after a single event and that Developmental Trauma . Developmental trauma refers to a psychological injury that arises in early childhood when basic needs for protection, attachment, and reliable care are not met over a prolonged period.
