High Sensation Seeker, always searching for something new
Extroverted highly sensitive people are often mistakenly assigned to High Sensation Seekers, as there are some overlaps here. HSS love the "kick" and need variety. They seek boundary experiences and take high risks to do so.
Often they exceed their inner strengths in the process, with the result that after a few days of intense productivity they are completely exhausted. They are constantly alternating between boredom and overload.
Once HSS become aware of this interplay, they can better handle their restless inner life and self-regulate.
High Sensation Seekers are:
- Slightly over- or under-stimulated.
- Easily excited.
- Fickle.
- Strong in impulse power.
- In search of strong emotions.
- Frequently alternating between tackling things and giving up.
- Confuse their environment.
- Often in conflict with their systems.
The biologist and brain researcher Gerhard Roth assumes that the development of an HSS personality is caused by early traumatic experiences.
