Highly sensitive people perceive odors more quickly
Often are highly sensitive persons (HSP) very sensitive to smells. Nicotine, body odor, or perfume that is too strong takes their breath away, leads to concentration difficulties, or nausea.
They smell when food is spoiled. They perceive smoldering cables or burnt food faster than 'normally sensitive' people. The smell of some foods can spoil their appetite. Flowers that smell too strong for them must be removed from the room.
They smell when it's going to rain and have great difficulty when the printer in the neighboring office is off-gassing. Some HSP can literally smell through walls.
The highly sensitive sense of smell – examples:
Highly sensitive and pleasant smells – intoxicated by the senses
On the other hand, they love Highly sensitive people pleasant smells. They enjoy the light scent of linden blossoms, cannot get enough of pleasantly smelling people, and love fresh, clear air. In the forest, like truffle pigs, they can often perceive wild garlic and mushrooms long before
Many memories are associated with pleasant scents for them. If they smell the scent, they revel in pleasant feelings. This applies to all people, of course, but HSPs usually only need a hint of the scent to revel in the pleasure.
