What is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

NLP allows emotional, behavioral, and thought patterns to be made conscious and purposefully and beneficially developed further.

NLP is a communication and motivation method that was developed in the US in the 1970s.
The work of the most successful therapists was closely studied to figure out what makes their work so effective.

These observed therapists came from various fields:

  • Hypnotherapy
  • Family therapy
  • Gestalt therapy
  • Coaching
  • Solution-focused counseling
  • Management
  • From this essence, the methods of NLP were developed.

What does NLP stand for?

NLP

Neuro – the nervous system – NLP works with the way our brain takes in and processes information.

Linguistic – the language – stands for the way language is used and how we unconsciously and consciously communicate with ourselves and others.

Programming –  utilizing the way the brain works - capturing and purposefully changing internal thought structures, response patterns, and previous behavioral strategies.

One of the distinctive features of NLP is a special way of asking questions. These questions might feel unusual at first, but that is precisely what coaching is all about.

If I were to ask you the questions you ask yourself, no new perspectives could open up.
